Gold

Little knowledge I know about gold. What I know, gold is a highly sought-after precious metal that for many centuries has been used as money, a store of value and in jewelry. The metal occurs as nuggets or grains in rocks and in alluvial deposits and is one of the coinage metals. It is a soft, shiny, yellow, dense, malleable, and ductile (trivalent and univalent) transition metal. (Wikipedia)

Until now I cannot comprehend one’s urge to have gold to brace the body in a form of necklace, bracelet, and so forth. May be it is due to the excessive testosteron in my body that despises any forms that suggests the femininity. I should have gone for an injection or two of estrogen to see better view in having gold on my body.

I came to light to write about this when I touched a little bit on the enterprising ladies in the market in Kota Bharu in my previous entry. A single thing one may notice, almost all the traders in market are ladies and most of them if not all are wearing heavy jewelries with strands and strands of gold necklaces hanging from their necks, covered some 6 inches from the wrist up with bracelets on both arms - one may develop muscles for having the weights on; and they are big & bold. It could be some 1 kg of gold to add to their plump body weights.

It is to me not for the purpose of beauty anymore when wearing it more than one is needed but it is more on the symbol of wealth kind of thing. And, it is true, traditionally the successful ones in the trade would signify their successes in that manner, or at least to have them looked successful.

Very lucky for them to live in that part of the country where snatch thieves are not that rampant as compared to the big cities like Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. Yeah, true! Bad people can be anywhere, there may be are some incidents that happened or may happen but it can still be considered as the isolated cases, it's not that alarming. They can still roam freely with all the glitteries of gold on the body around the city and still feel very safe. I’ll bet, if they were to do the same in Kuala Lumpur, in no time they will either get robbed or loosing their arms.

GAB: Ladies are to me more elegant to go with minimum jewelries on the body, or don’t they?

"More elegant with minimal jewelries?"
Only when we talk abt women's other best frens.. one big fat perfect teardrop diamond or mother of pearl!! Heheheh

BTW, the kilos of gold serve their purposed especially for bini kena tinggal dek suami, ayah tak bagi nafkah utk anak2, suami kalah judi, etc. etc.

Dear GAB - stop saying 'nothing special about you' because you are so special. Allah know that because He created you. And you should know that too.

p/s. TQ for wishing me Selamat Hari Raya. Banyakkan bersyukur and jangan mengeluh.

greetings. thanks for visiting supersomething. :)

Ladies are more elegant to go with minimum jewelries on the body. i second that. tapi masih ada yang suka sangkut emas berkoyan-koyang kat tengkuk & lengan & jari dan lain2 bahagian badan yang boleh disangkut... i wonder.. tak berat ke??

Oh yes..for me is so true to have minimum on the body..let it be small, simple yet sweet...

emm...it has to be diamond though, not so much of heavy & big gold.

It is meant for self satisfaction not for others.

Well, different poeple would have different like and preference.

COUNT BYRON --> Thanks for the visit. Wehehe, that Kermit? It was just so happened when the auto-question came up and the thought of entertaining a kids came into mind...

RAD --> Yeah Rad, if it is a single piece to be on, let it be that big teardrop thing, right? You have a good taste, y'know! hehe! BTW, the gold itself serves as an investment for rainy days. I was toying with the point to write as well but it slipped off my mind.

SCHOOL OF THOTS --> Thanks for coming over.
It is right in the context of what you are saying; everyone is special for that matter, but I still maintain my stand, I am nobody special in the context of a slave to Allah, similar to all other people, what matters most is my amal ibadat, whether to the standard or not in the eyes of Him.

I do not deny that if we were to look upon the point we are sent to this world as a Caliph for the World, we are special then.

Banyakkan bersyukur is the very thing that I am trying to do my best. Bersyukur is not just a matter of lip service as most people understand but Amal Makruf Nahi Mungkar to start off with... empahasis must be greater in the Amal Makruf.. That's in the eyes of Allah we call it bersyukur.
And thank you for reminding me utk tidak merungut. As a matter of fact, it diminishes gently in my dictionary of life since I am a hard-trained person. Susah tak akan jadi masalah kepada GAB, yg GAB takut kalau ditakdirkan kaya...

SUPERSOMETHING --> Thank you for dropping by. Buka masalah berat lagi kalau dia nyer perception kata it's good for them. Bet you are the elegant one! *smile*

ANGGERIK MERAH --> I am glad you are truly a lady for liking that. If you do have the same way not liking it it just like me, something is wrong then. The point I wanted to carry over there is to let ladies know what's good & beautiful in the eyes of men.

DEA --> To prefer small and simple sounds "simple" but expensive is not simple anymore...heheheh kidding dear. Yeah, all ladies love that I suppose, and my wife is no exception and nothing wrong with it. The only thing wrong is when people dwelling over something they don't have.

I never fancy mas 916 i.e yellow gold, I love white gold more and yes like the count have mentioned, less is more..lagipun kalau banyak2 pakai, nampak kurang profesional..

Gold & hari raya....Gold & kenduri kawin ..Gold & profession ...The objectives is almost the same..the outer beauty. Simple title but `complicated' perspective..

I am one of those rare gems - I dont really like to wear/buy jewellery, u name it, gold or diamond or costume jewellery..they make me rimas and look older like a mak datin...muahahaha!

The only piece of gold I'm wearing is a bracelet in my right hand (given by my mother-in-law for my wedding present..kena pakai nak ambik hati whoaa..), not even a wedding ring...

Just simple me!

gold ni mcm saving la, macam insurance policy...in time of need ada pajak gadai..and i remember, gold jewelry being passed down for generations...
also, it is a form of status symbol...sbb tu masa kenduri kan ..kakak2 yg byk gold tu siap sinsing lengan baju masa nak ambek gulai...pas tu ada bunyik pagi..kring kring...kira paling lekeh pun 4 - 5 urat gelang tangan...:)

me, too more into diamonds.

PB --> That's right, tradditionally it is as such.

I heard about tok peraih emas.

KOPI_O --> Yeah, it can go deeper than just the association with GOLD, anything for that matter. It widens the horizon of our thinking if we were to probe further.

But I bet, Gol & Gincu is different... hehe kidding

JOKONTAN --> Thank you for your visit here JO. I tried to visit you reciprocally and it connects but the blog name fails to appear in the profile page. Please lemme know the url once you are here again.

Glad you find some similarities that we may expand further for other purposes JO.. and talking about guy blogger, yeah... ladies outnumbered. May be it takes a bit of patient to blog and guys have low tolerant level and lack of persistency in this "seni" thing. I cannot consider myself as a serious blogger either.

SIMAH --> Nice to have you here. I'll make a point to drop a message or two in your blog

KICAPSODA --> You are strange or rather one of those rare gems, as you may call for not liking any form of jewelries as a lady. But anyway, I am very sure you have a good reason for that. The best of all is... KISS -> Keep It Simple & Selamat.. hehe

MR ARIF --> Reminds me of the show off at the kenduri showdown among the ladies!

I do not have that many (of gold) because I can not afford to have them. My dear hubby seldom buys for me because I seldom ask from him anyway (to buy those things for me). What ever I have ( 3 - 4 pieces I think) I wear & cherished. The thing is that, my kids can't stand them, especially the only 2 rings that I have. These rings keep on tersangkut either on their clothes, hair, their little nose, u name it! hehe.. therefore I've been thinking very hard to take them out for the sake of my kids' convinience & safety (what if the rings tersangkut into their poor eyes?). What say you?

SHIHA --> To look and feel good does not necessarily has to go with gold and jewelries and I think that's OK already for what you have. You have many years ahead of you, you're still young.
